Description: This needlecase features a feisty little dragon in shades of blue and purple, and a twisted motif border done with Dinky-Dyes overdyed silk. The design is accented with Kreinik metallic #4 braid, specialty stitches, tiny beads, and is personalize-able with an included over-one alphabet. Background Information: I was looking for a small class project, and a friend suggested a needlecase design. I wondered what a dragon-lover might look for in a needlecase pattern, and I started playing with the idea of a dragon to guard needles. As I sketched, the dragon took on human characteristics: hands on hips, stern expression...and then I added the saying for some extra fun. ;) And celtic-inspired knotwork is so much more fun to stitch when it's done with an overdyed fiber!
Stitching Comments: Needle Guardian was designed as a class piece, but not necessarily as a "teaching" piece, as the stitches are all very straight-forward. It's a fun little design that works up quickly, and hopefully, will make you smile in the process. Specialty Stitches: attaching beads, nun stitch, algerian eyelet, diamond eyelet, four-sided stitch.
