Cross-Stitch
Designs:
Holly and Ivy
Sampler:
- Over-one chart:
The bold dots (which are shown on the code as petite royal plum beads)
should be bold squares (DMC 3362) instead. This includes the dots
in the little holly leaf motifs as well.
- The backstitch
lines in the over-one lettering should be stitched using one strand
3362.
- A backstitch
line is missing: On page 6 of the chart booklet, part of the backstitch
line between the gold border and the whitework border is missing.
- Instructions
for straight stitching the single line "rays" of the over-one sun
were omitted: they should be stitched using two strands of DMC 676.
Tropical Dream:
- Incorrect number
listing for the Kreinik Ombre fiber: it should be #3200 instead of
#032 .
The Fortunate
Traveler (1st printing):
- Over-one chart:
The bird contains the symbol "+" which was omitted from
the color code. It should be stitched using DMC 453. This color is
represented in the code by another symbol: both symbols should be
stitched using DMC 453.
- Alternate spelling
of "Traveller" chart (on page 19 of leaflet):
The center arrows are located in the wrong place. Move the arrows
to the right (7) seven chart blocks.
- The design
stitch count listed in the leaflet is incorrect. It should be: 244H
X 194W.
- Anchor color
number error: The Anchor color number for ecru is 387. In the color
code, it's listed as 02, which is Anchor's number for brillant white.
Celtic Knotwork
Crosses:
- p.7: Blue Green
Knotwork Cross with Border. The Kreinik Silk Mori Color Dk. Victorian
Green is incorrectly listed as #4116. The number should be #4166.
The Princess
and the Dragon:
- A symbol was
omitted from the color code: the symbol is Omega, and
the DMC color number is 3770.
- A symbol was
omitted from the color code: the symbol is "<<"
and the DMC color
number is 818.
The Twelve
Days of Christmas:
- In the holly
spray at the corners there is a star symbol for 3362, dark pine green.
In all the other charts this has become a small solid circle which
doesn't appear in the symbol/floss numbers list. In all cases it should
be stitched in 3362.
- These are not
errors, but for those who prefer perfect symmetry, you should note
the following: -Letter spacing for days 6, 8, and 10. The spacing
between the holly sprays and the words ÒOnÓ and ÒDayÓ have the following
spacing differences:
Holly spray [3] On *6th* Day [5] Holly spray
Holly spray [3] On *8th* Day [5] Holly spray
Holly spray [2] On *10th* Day [4] Holly spray
- Day 1:
1. An upside down 'E' on the leaf furthest to the right.
2. An arrow that faces the wrong way just under the tail feathers.
It is meant to be 3362.
3. A diamond symbol near the left of the pear in the middle is rotated.
4. In the center of the partridge: a dot " . " (color Blanc) that's
almost covered over by the center grid line.
5. Lettering: words are all 4 spaces away from the inner border except
for "my true love" which is 5 spaces away. Change to 4 spaces to match
the rest.
- Day 3:
1. A rotated diamond symbol (3363)
2. Backstitching that overlaps the blade of grass on the hen's foot.
- Day 6:
Border: The holly sprays are missing 3 rows of symbols on each side.
They should be the same as the rest of the border segments.
- Day 7:
There's a rotated 'E' symbol in the reeds behind the swan's neck.
Woodland Angel
Stocking:
- There is an
extra symbol listed in the code that was not used in the design. It
looks like a backward "L" with a dot. The DMC colors listed
for the symbol are: 739/3823.
- The DMC color
3823 is therefore not needed for the design. It is listed in the Materials
List on page 12.
Knotwork Bookmarks
II:
- The vertical
stripe shading in bookmark patterns B, C, and D has somehow printed
incorrectly, and appears as dark shading instead. Corrections follow:
- Bookmark
B:
Look at the ends of the bookmark pattern. The "rope" that
is shown as dark shading just inside the border is correct. The other
"rope" that is shown as dark shading should be the vertical
stripe shading instead.
- Bookmark
C:
The "ropes" that are ring-shaped and located in the center
of the bookmark should alternate between light shading and vertical
stripe shading.
- Bookmark
D :
The "ropes" that reach to the edges of the design should
be vertical stripe shading instead of dark shading. Also, at the right-hand
end of the pattern, there are 4 quarter stitches (shown as dark shading)
which should not be there; they are located "outside" of
the backstitching, and are obvious errors.
Paisley Corner:
- In the Cross
Stitch (blue colorway) code (page 2): Several of the Anchor floss
numbers are incorrect. Please change the colors numbers as follows:
893 to 117
868 to 120
894 to 977
1048 to 176
1004 to 979
895 to 941
340 to 148
896 to 178
897 to 152
"You were
hatched...":
- In the mother
dragon's wing, the symbol of a triangle pointing upwards (DMC 320)
has been rotated 90 degrees to the right.
- The instructions
say to cross stitch the dragons' eyes using DMC 791/311 and backstitch
using the #4 braid. It should be: cross stitch using the braid, and
backstitch using the DMC 791.

Designs:
Legends of
the Dragons leaflet:
- Due to chart
reduction, printing problems were encountered. Some symbols, when
reduced to quarter stitch size, changed appearance radically. The
following are noted:
- 1. The black
triangle, DMC 680, becomes what looks like a tophat: a black square
with a line at the bottom, extending out both sides, when reduced
to quarter stitch size.
- 2. The lower
case "t", DMC 503/3053, becomes just a short vertical line when reduced
to quarter stitch size.
- 3. The symbol
that looks like an "s" lying on it's side, DMC 677/761, becomes what
looks like a lower case "n" when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 4. The asterisk
(*), DMC 504/524/032, becomes just a mark when reduced to quarter
stitch size.
- 5. The = with
a slash, DMC 502/3052, becomes what looks like a written (cursive)
"c" (one of the horizontal lines of the = is missing) when reduced
to quarter stitch size.
- 6. The heavy
"+", DMC 729/3712, becomes half of a "+" : the top part and the right
hand part are gone when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 7. The heavy
black dot: DMC 930/3746, becomes a square instead of staying round
when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 8. The "Y"
with two horizontal lines through it, DMC 340/931, loses the two horizontal
lines when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 9. The "Z"
with a line through it horizontally, DMC 932, changes enough to make
it difficult to recognize: the line through the "Z" becomes much longer
when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 10. The "C"
with a dot in the center, DMC 340, becomes what looks like a capital
"E" when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 11. The upper
case "S", DMC 503/932, becomes just a squiggle when reduced to quarter
stitch size.
- 12. The "#",
DMC 502/932, becomes what looks like a flag with a pole, the flag
pointing to the right when reduced to quarter stitch size.
- 13. The dash
with two vertical lines, DMC 543, becomes a tiny "L" when reduced
to quarter stitch size.
Legends of
the Spellcasters:
- A symbol is
used twice: The "open heart" symbol is listed for both DMC
3042, and for DMC blend 741/743. For Prince Nicholas, use 3042. For
Ember, use 741/743.The symbol is not used for Wizard Draike.
