Topiary TreesRelease date: October, 1994 (Discontinued) Stitch count:
bellpull: 607H x 102W, afghan squares: 93H x 98W Chart: computer
generated ©TW Designworks, PO Box 176, Montoursville, PA 17754 Description: A collection of six different topiaries which can be stitched together as a bellpull, or as individual afghan blocks: originally designed for the Teresa Cloth Afghan. Each beribboned topiary is planted in a different decorative urn, and is surrounded by leafy garlands. Background Information: For this design, the challenge was to design something versatile which could be stitched on the Teresa Cloth Afghan and used in other ways: as a bellpull, for example. The designs also needed to be executed exclusively in whole stitches, because of the afghan fabric. Topiaries, with their whimsical shapes, proved to be fascinating subjects: capturing the character of the individual plants was truly challenging.
Stitching Comments: I would rate these designs as easy, even with the blended floss colors, (they comprise less than half of the symbols list) The individual designs are small, and the charts are quite clear. There are no fractional stitches, and the backstitching is all straight-forward. Specialty Stitches: None Important Tips: Organizing Floss
