Summer FaerieRelease date: May, 1996 (Discontinued) Stitch count:
134H x 134W Chart: computer

Description: Dressed in a gown of periwinke blue, a smiling faerie sits atop an open pink rose, her colorful butterfly-like wings folded behind her. Shades of blue, green, gold and pink dominate in this whimsical design. A beaded floral motif border in complimentary shades finishes the design. (Second in a series of four seasonal faeries.) Background Information: Imaginary beings are some of my favorite subjects. Because they are pure fantasy, they can take on any characteristics I choose. By placing these beings in "real" settings, the sense of unreality is heightened, allowing the viewer's (stitcher's) imagination to take over. Although I used photographic reference for the faerie's wings, I embellished the color significantly, and chose the rose as the quintessential flower for the season.
Stitching Comments: This design is about medium size, including the border, and is of average difficulty: there are some quarter stitches, and quite a few blended colors (over half). The chart is printed large and is very easy to read; the leaflet organizes the chart in page form.
