Description: A collection of six different rocking horses which were originally published separately: Trotter (a grey with pastel trimmings: bottom right), Chestnut (a palamino in Christmas finery: middle left), Misty (a chestnut with spring flowers and a quilt: middle right), Dancer (a grey with Arabian-style trim: top left), Diamond (a chestnut with a Southwestern flair: bottom left), and Sweetheart (a grey trimmed with hearts, flowers and ribbons: top right). Background Information: Trotter was my first published design, and Chestnut, my second. Misty and Dancer followed in response to requests for another pair. Then, a couple years later, Sweetheart and Diamond were designed to round out the group. It was challenging to design what was, essentially, the same horse six different ways...and to make each one interesting to stitch as well!
Stitching Comments: This series of designs is relatively uncomplicated. Even though there are quite a few quarter stitches, each design's small size and the absence of blended floss colors makes each one a satisfyingly challenging project without a large commitment in time and effort. I know that all six of these designs have been incorporated into quilts by more than one ambitious stitcher! Specialty Stitches: French knots, lazy-daisy Important Tips: See: Charting Technique, Specialty Stitches Chestnut
