Description: Standing at the curtained window of her stone prison tower, a pair of doves flutter she watches for her rescuer as the mists rise from the surrounding forest. Under the window, on an upholstered bench, a mandolin lies upon an embroidered cushion... Background Information: Fairy tales have always been one of my favorite things; pure imagination, yet grounded in human reality: dreams written down on paper. I wanted to portray Rapunzel as she may have appeared- trying to occupy the endless hours, perhaps with reading or music...at other times, pacing restlessly, pausing from time to time to watch hopefully for her savior from the window. Who among us has not, at one time or another, experienced a seemingly interminable wait...in a place where we didn't want to be?
Stitching Comments: This design is almost solid stitching, so any light colored fabric would work just fine. The piece also has lots of quarter stitches, about half the floss colors are blended, and the chart is hand drawn, although it is fairly clear. The chart in The TW Fantasy Collection book is computer generated and very easy to read. Specialty Stitches: diamond eyelet, French knot, lazy-daisy Important Tips: Charting Technique, Organizing Floss, Specialty Stitches
