164H x 244W Chart: Hand
drawn originally. Now computer generated. ©Leisure Arts, Inc. P.O. Box 55595, Little Rock, AR 72215 Description: This fantasy scene depicts a magical sleigh with a colorfully garbed passenger being whisked across the frosty moonlit sky by two spirited winged horses. Visible far below are the tops of evergreens, above is a shimmery silver moon. The piece is stitched in shades of gray, blue, mauve, purple, turquoise, and gold; blending filament and beads add extra sparkle. Background Information: This is one of those vivid scenes from childhood imaginings- pure fantasy with absolutely no bearing on reality except that recognizable objects are the subjects of the design. In fantasy, anything is possible...including flying horses, and sleighs that float over the tree tops....
Stitching Comments: This is a fairly large complex design with oodles of quarter stitches (and backstitching) and lots of blended floss colors. The chart is hand drawn, and difficult to read: an enlarged photocopy is definitely recommended. I am told by many stitchers that the wings are the most challenging part of the design to stitch.
