Description: Inside an oval border, a delicate flower fairy rests amidst a patch of lily-of-the-valley. Her gossamer wings bend as she braces herself against a breeze that ruffles the folds of her pink and periwinkle gown, and threatens to unseat her from her perch!

Background Information: Like many people, I am fascinated by things that fly: real or imagined. I am also captivated by elves, faeries, and other small folk of legend. The realm of fantasy offers limitless design possibilities since its boundaries encompass both the real and unreal worlds...there is always something new to be discovered! This design originally appeared on the cover of Just CrossStitch Magazine, (March/April 1993) in conjunction with an article about yours truly.

Stitching Comments: This is a relatively small piece, and thus a good choice for the inexperienced stitcher. There are fractional stitches and some blended floss colors. Also, the chart is hand drawn, which, while not as clear as a computer generated one, is large enough to be read easily. The decorative border goes quickly once the pattern is established.

Specialty Stitches: Smyrna cross, French knot
