Floral BellpullRelease date: June, 1998 (Discontinued) Stitch count:
429H x 79W Chart: computer
generated ©Leisure Arts,
Inc. P.O. Box 55595, Little Rock, AR 72215 Description: This bellpull design consists of six different floral blocks, finished with a decorative satin stitch leaf border. California bluebells, yellow roses, pink and purple sweet peas, blue morning glories, yellow-toned pansies, and pink peonies are realistically colored and shaded, and executed entirely in whole stitches. Background Information: This design was created as a companion to Fruit Bellpull: I decided to keep the same general format and stitch count. Also, for the sake of continuity, I decided to execute the design in whole stitches, relying on the color blends to give the flowers their appeal. I also chose old-fashioned flowers: the kind you might find in a Victorian garden.
Stitching Comments: This is not a difficult piece: a relatively inexperienced stitcher should be able to attempt it with minimal difficulty. For those folks who prefer smaller projects, it could also be stitched as individual pieces since the border extends around each flower panel. The leaflet layout conveniently lists the floss colors needed for each panel separately, and there is a complete floss list for the whole project as well. Specialty Stitches: Diagonal satin stitch, French knot Important Tips: Organizing Floss, Specialty Stitches
