Description: This bellpull design consists of six different fruit blocks, finished with a decorative satin stitch leaf border. Cherries, apples, peaches, pears, plums, and grapes are realistically colored and shaded, and executed entirely in whole stitches.
Background Information: This design originally appeared as three different installments in Just CrossStitch Magazine, and was later released as a leaflet. Fruit has such marvelous colors: everything from yellow to purple...plus subtle variations of those colors within each piece (no two grapes are the same!) What a wonderful challenge to translate all that richness into floss colors! I wanted to capture as much as I could, so decided to design the fruits using whole stitches since the color and shading work would be so intense. (I'll be the first to admit there are a ton of color changes in this design!) Each block is designed to work with the group or to stand alone.
Stitching Comments: If you don't like working with blended floss colors or don't like changing colors often, you will not enjoy this design. But, if you love lots of unusual color combinations, and have even a semi-organized approach to stitching, this piece will give you no problems. If you're not up to stitching the whole bellpull, you may want to complete a block or two, and frame them for your kitchen. (Which is the room in my house for which I originally designed this piece!)
