Autumn FaerieRelease date: October, 1996 (Discontinued) Stitch count:
134H x 134W Chart: computer-generated ©Leisure Arts, Inc. P.O. Box 55595, Little Rock, AR 72215
Description: Seated upon a ripening apple (still on the tree), this faerie wears the luscious shades of autumn: her butterfly wings are browns, golds, oranges and mauve; her gown is shades of gold to green. A decorative border accented with beaded grape clusters completes this very colorful design. (Third in a series of four seasonal faeries.) Background Information: Imaginary beings are some of my favorite subjects. Because they are pure fantasy, they can take on any characteristics I choose. By placing these beings in "real" settings, the sense of unreality is heightened, allowing the viewer's (stitcher's) imagination to take over. For the wings, I used photographic reference, especially for shape and structure (veins), but punched up the color a bit. Ripening apples are a sure sign of autumn's arrival.
Stitching Comments: This design is about medium size, including the border, and is of average difficulty: there are some quarter stitches, and quite a few blended colors (over half). The chart is printed large and is very easy to read; the leaflet organizes the chart in page form. Specialty Stitches: none Important Tips: See: Charting Technique, Organizing Floss, Miscellaneous Tips
