| "Teresa's Crown" - The design is stitched on 32 ct. linen using DMC thread & Kreinik gold cord. It is a tribute to Teresa Wentzler. I have always felt she is a Queen among designers. In return for her wonderful gifts to stitchers everywhere, I give to her a gift -- a crown for "My Queen". (January 13, 1999) |

When/How did you first start cross stitching?
Grandmothers did crafts from forever and I asked as a child to be taught. Learned to crochet and embroider which ultimately led to cross stitching. The first few projects were while in High School from our neighbor who had started some projects but never had finished them. I offered to do them for her and voila'....I was hooked. I did several smaller projects over the years in college and was given a kit by you know who as a gift from my mother. It turned out to be the Peacock. It took me a bit of time to find a "sense to the madness" but once I got my wings, There has been no stopping. Of all the designs I have seen and done to date, I prefer to do TW's almost exclusively.
What do you enjoy most about cross stitching?
The calming, relaxing effect it has on the mind and body. I for one find I difficult to sit and not do something tactile. I must have the hands and brain occupied else I get "itchy". It also provides an outlet to be creative and have the fruits of my labor decorating the walls of my home.
What are your favorite Cross Stitch Subjects?
Anything by TW. Fantasy, Angels, Victorian, Rennaissance, Some Lavendar and Lace designs, a few by Nora Corbet, some of Barbara & Cheryl's designs and anything that is intricate, involved. and realistic looking. that uses metallics, beads, specialty stitches and blended threads.
