When/How did you
first start cross stitching?
To
be honest, I don't even remember how long ago I started cross-stitching.
I remember when I was young (maybe 10?) my grandparents gave me a box
of various needlework projects, and I remember working stamped cross-stitch,
and my mothe r correcting me on the direction of the top stitch (apparently
they weren't all going the same direction!). Since then, I've dabbled
in various needleworking styles but tend toward the counted-thread variety
(mostly cross-stitch and blackwork)
What do you enjoy
most about cross stitching?
I
think what I like most is the act of creating something of beauty, watching
it take shape in my hands. That, and stitching is a very relaxing diversion
for me. I've had people ask "how can you do such painstaking work without
going insane? ". I just tell them that stitching is what keeps me from
going insane!
What are your favorite
Cross Stitch Subjects?
A
variety of things, usually Celtic, fantasy, or medieval. (Needless to
say, I have either the kit, leaflet, or magazine for every dragon TW has
published :)
What is your Favorite
TW Design(s)?
Impossible
to choose just one! I've developed grand (if yet unstitched) plans for
groups of her designs. The Castle Sampler pairs well with the Lady of
Shalott and the Enchanter (I've completed two of the three). The Guardian
and the Storyteller seem to pair well, since they both have dragons and
knotwork borders, though I haven't stitched either one yet. My favorite
of the ones I've completed (so far) is the Castle, which I did on light
blue evenweave, and used blending filaments t o give the dragon some life.
Other Comments
from the Designer:
The only problem
I've ever found with TW's wonderful designs is that she's designing
them faster than I can stitch!
